Inspired by the recent weather we have been having we are asking you to write a snowy poem over the next few days! Today we will look at planning a poem and the elements of poetry we would like to see. These include rhyming words, using our senses and similes. Today is all about planning and we will focus on drafting and writing our poem tomorrow.

Reading / Story

The link for this is in files, class materials and then click the folder for Thursday 11th February.

Today we will be looking at a winter poem. This comprehension is a fantastic one for us as we have been enjoying a lot of winter weather this week! Watch the video for some guidance on how to find the answers for the comprehension today, the questions ask you to look at different verses so that will be explained in the video. I will also be reading the poem aloud as this is something we would normally do in school when we would ask you to read sentences or paragraphs and work as a class to get started on finding the answers. If you can I would recommend printing the poem, this will be found in assignments, and reading along with me.

There are two comprehension papers to try, depending on how confident you are. If you look at the first and decide it is too easy for you then go straight on to the second comprehension sheet, these is no need to complete both!

Maths

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/spring-week-5-statistics/

Please go to lesson four – Draw pictograms

Today we will be looking at statistics and data through the use of pictograms and tally charts. We have used tally charts before, however, if you feel you need a quick recap on these then please watch lesson 3 on the link in the daily plan ‘Tally charts’ before you begin todays lesson, there will not be a worksheet to accompany these though, the worksheet attached is for lesson four, lesson three is simply a quick reminder.as with all our videos there will be questions throughout so you can have a pencil and paper ready if you decide to recap on tally charts.

The worksheet for the lesson can be found in assignments.

When you have watched the video begin by answering questions 1 – 3.

If you are feeling confident in what you need to do, you should be able to complete the whole sheet. If you are up for a challenge there are some fluency and problem-solving questions on a separate document.

Maths

Spring Week 3 – Number: Multiplication & Division | White Rose Maths- please watch video 4 ‘How many different ways’

Today we are looking at problem solving with combinations, we will look at how many different combinations you can make with a set of objects. This lesson looks at organising combinations into a table and then looks at recording them as a repeated addition and then a multiplication, so, as well as helping you focus on working systematically when problem solving, it also allows you to reinforce your times tables knowledge.

Remember when you watch the video, there is a set of warm up questions and some points to pause and have a go before the worksheet is completed so it may be a good idea to have a pen and paper ready to jot your answers down as you go along.

The worksheet for the lesson can be found in assignments.

When you have watched the video begin by answering questions 1 – 4.

If you are feeling confident in what you need to do, complete questions 5 and 6 as well. If you are up for a challenge there are some reasoning and problem-solving questions on a separate document.
